Arua District, Uganda April 19, 2025, In a powerful gathering at Ajono Yivu, Eruba Parish, young mothers, peace mediators, and community leaders came together to break the silence on Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The dialogue, organized by Peace Mediators of Selfless Compassion Initiative, aimed to empower young mothers, foster community support, and chart a path toward a safer future for all.
A Community United Against GBV The event opened with heartfelt stories from young mothers who have faced GBV. One participant, shared her journey: For years, I suffered in silence, fearing stigma. But today, I learned I am not alone. This dialogue gave me the courage to speak up and seek help. Her words echoed the sentiments of many, highlighting the transformative power of collective action.
Peace mediators, emphasized the role of community in combating GBV: When we stand together, we can challenge harmful norms and protect our sisters, daughters, and mothers. Education and awareness are our strongest tools.
